Vintage Binoculars

Since its creation in 1987 Modes software has been developed by museum people for museum people.

As a not-for-profit organisation, we have a small core team, are overseen by a Board of Non-Executive Directors and collaborate with other organisations and freelancers as and when we need.

Meet some of our core team members below, based in Derby, who deliver software, support, training and consultancy services.

Richard Langley

Support & Development

Joined Modes: 2001

My first career was in archaeology. I started using Modes in 1992 when I was a curator at Derby Museum. I soon got hooked on the possibilities it offered, and began to pursue my interest in digitising the museum’s collections information. I’ve been involved in the development of Modes ever since.

When not wrangling data: you might find me riding my Brompton, or singing in four-part harmony; though rarely at the same time.

Sarah Godfrey

Business support & Company Secretary

Joined Modes: 2022

Following a career of more than 20 years in the NHS working in various Finance roles and more recently as HR and Support Services Manager for a 3rd sector organisation, I’m new to the world of Modes and museums, but I’m bringing all my previous experience and skills to Modes.

When not writing invoices: you might find me watching my children playing team sport or walking my dogs.
